2010 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT #4 – JAKE DUNNING, RHP, Giants organization

May 20th, 2010

Our fourth client spotlight installment shines on Jake Dunning, RHP, San Francisco Giants organization. Jake was drafted by the Giants in the 33rd round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of Indiana University. While at IU, Jake was the team’s starting shortstop, as well as dabbling in relief pitching. His pitching potential is what most attracted the Giants.

In 2009, Jake played for the Giants’ Rookie League team and was used exclusively as a shortstop. However, in 2010, Jake has traded in his infield glove for a pitcher’s glove, and made the switch to full-time pitcher. In a very short period of time, he has already impressed the Giants’ staff by throwing 93-94 mph, while touching 95 mph on several occasions.

His pitching skills and projectability will propel Jake toward a future stop in the Major Leagues, and we will enjoy being there when it happens!

2010 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT #3 – SHANE ZEGARAC, LHP, Rangers organization

May 15th, 2010

Our third client spotlight for the 2010 season is on LHP Shane Zegarac. Shane was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 42nd round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft out of St. Joseph’s (IN) College.

Shane spent his ‘09 campaign with both the Rangers’ Rookie League team, and the Short-season club in Spokane. In a combined 18 games out of the bullpen, Shane posted a 3.58 ERA in 27.2 IP, with 31 SO and 18 BB.

Shane worked extremely hard during the off-season and added approximately 3-4 mph to his fastball. As a result of this very pleasant surprise for the Rangers’ coaching staff, Shane opened the 2010 season with the team’s High Class A club in Bakersfield, CA, where he will continue to shine as the 8th inning specialist. 2010 promises to be a break-out year for Z!

Brett started the 2010 campaign picking up where he left off in 2009 with the Hagerstown club. Brett adds exceptional hitting, patience, and efficiency skills to the Nationals organization, and we expect him to continue to impress.

Upon being drafted by the Padres, Chris was sent to the team’s Short-Season club in Eugene, Oregon. It didn’t take long for Chris to show the Padres’ brass that he was a special player. After 34 games in Eugene, Chris was promoted to the High Class A club in Lake Elsinore, CA. He was then invited to participate in the team’s instructional league in Peoria, AZ, where he continued to display stellar defense, great speed, and improved hitting.

After a brief stint in extended Spring Training in 2010, Chris was designated to begin the season with the club’s Lake Elsinore team once again. In addition to playing shortstop, he is also displaying his versatility by playing second base, as well. Chris is in for a great 2010 season, and expects to see dividends from an extensive off-season training program in which he added 10 lbs. of muscle.

We look forward to big things from Chris in 2010!!
